It’s been a while since I’ve shared an engagement shoot on Secret Wedding Blog. But when this stunning shoot landed in my inbox, it reminded me of why I do adore engagement sessions so much. Soniya and Marcel’s engagement shoot, at Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich, Germany, was so simple yet so beautiful. Just them two and the love they share can be seen throughout these photographs.
Beautiful Soniya is a Hindu girl from Nepal who met, Christian, Marcel from Germany in his home country. She tells us about how they met, their proposal story and wedding plans below:
How they met
“We first met few days after I arrived in Germany back in 2011 as he was the neighbour of my host family where I was as an Au-pair. But it was only 2 years after when I started my studies and came back to where my host family live to work during my semester break, we finally got to know each other. I worked at Marcel’s father’s company and we used to drive to work together; he used to pick me up and drop me off for around 3 and half months. We also worked together and were spending maximum time with together. Even after work we started meeting for a movie night, cycling and so on. And so we started dating.
After almost 3 years of being together, we decided to get married with lots of consultation with our family. It wasn’t easy for my family to allow me to marry a person from first different culture, second different nation, third different language and last but not least from so far away.
But luckily, everything turned out to go our way. However, we, at least Marcel still needs to meet my parents and my relatives personally and we are quite nervous about it. Although, it doesn’t have any influence on our marriage but it would be great if everyone could be convinced with the man I have chosen to live rest of my life with.”
“The marriage proposal was very private and romantic with hundreds of candles asking me to marry him and a lovely bucket and obviously a ring!”
Looking forward to the wedding day
“My parents, brother and grand mom will be joining me all the way from Nepal and I am so looking forward to it. It will be their first time in Germany. Moreover, after counting again, we are having guests from 11 different Nations and are overwhelmed to welcome them all!
The ritual i.e. all the Church thing is new for me and completely different from how my own Hindu tradition would be, so it will be a new experience for myself and my family. I am so excited to finally get married in white dress!”
From the photographer – Carito Photography:
It’s stunning and something very wonderful to me that in today’s world people from opposite sides of the world have the chance to meet and fall in love. Soniya & Marcel’s story is one of them. I envisioned this session to be about them, their love and their respective cultures. We chose a museum of modern art with modern, minimal backgrounds, textures and many clear lines because we didn’t want anything to distract from Soniya & Marcel. No nature nor any of the famous historic buildings in Munich – just them. Their personalities and their love for each other fill every frame perfectly already.
