An Interfaith Traditional Ladakhi Wedding

There are certain weddings/photo shoots – that when they hit my inbox, excite me rather much. Especially when the weddings are from another culture or religion that I haven’t featured yet on the blog, it allows me to learn about their traditions before sharing with my readers.

An Interfaith Traditional Ladakhi Wedding

Thinles is a native of Ladakh ( a small region in the Himalayas) and his bride is from Kolkata (formerly Calcutta – the capital of India’s West Bengal state). They crossed barriers when it came to getting married from different cultures and religions, Thinles being a Tiebetan buddist and Nirajna being a Hindu. It’s not a taboo anymore – multicultural or interfaith marriage. The world is one and Thinles wants people to see for themselves how local people in Ladakh have an idea of how their original tradition & culture could look so beautiful and unique.

They had this photo shoot taken place after getting married to highlight the beauty of their culture and tradition. Very few old style traditional weddings are being held, as many people are heading down the modern route. This can be that they’re slightly shying away from their roots. The shoot is very very unique in terms of Location, costumes and tradition.
