Hen do Venues

Dar Jaguar’s “Sex and the City” style Hen Weekends in Marrakech

When I think about my idea of a hen do, because I’m obviously a desperado thinking about my hen without being engaged, I don’t think of your normal hen do. The idea of wearing L plates, a veil and going for a night out doesn’t appeal to me when it does to a majority of engaged ladies. Hey – I’m not knocking it. I’m much more boring than that. If I did want a hen do, I’d want it to be a small intimate weekend – something different.

I connected with Lucia on twitter where we began discussing interfaith weddings (having one herself), fashion and Marrakech. Being a London couture designer, Lucia Silver of The State of Grace, restored an ancient riad to create Dar Jaguar in Marrakech, with romantic design at its heart and high style in its soul.

Oosh! This stood out to me because they’ve just launched their Sex and the City hen weekends and it looks incredible. There are really few riads that can match Dar Jaguar’s stylishly dreamlike ambience. I knew it would be something that you, my lovely readers are interested in. A unique different hen weekend in style.

It’s not just hen weekends that make Dar Jaguar so appealing, it’s also hugely popular for intimate weddings, honeymoons and romantic couples’ adventures, family and girls’ getaways, vow renewals and of course for birthdays and New Year’s celebrations.

The styling of the traditional Moorish and Oriental architecture with an elegant European romanticism is breathtaking. It is built around a tranquil courtyard, where palm trees intertwine with bougainvillea that drape onto an antique marble fountain.

There are four spacious en suites and one Royal Suite, as well as three different salons and a large sun-drenched roof terrace with a magnificent view over the city. Each room has an individual style with furnishings and heirlooms sourced from all corners of the globe. Highlights include the huge freestanding copper bath and the plunge pool set under the ancient carved woodwork and huge Damascan inspired chandelier – among many of the interior treats designed by Lucia. I seriously cannot wait to visit this riad to stay in one of these gorgeous suites.

I obviously wouldn’t share a venue if it didn’t do delicious food. It’s known for its special five-course candlelit banquet for true foodies, with magical entertainments arranged on site – all overlooking Marrakech’s sparkling lights and crimson skyline.  Surprisingly you can have exclusive use of the Dar Jaguar from as little as £65 per person per night, based on 10 guests sharing. A luxury weekend without the expensive price tag.
