I was one of a few wedding bloggers invited to Not On The High Street’s wedding wonderland held at Clifton Garden Nurseries, to celebrate the 10th birthday of NOTHS. I’m often invited to a number of events but I choose them very carefully. Are they something I want the blog to be associated with? Are they relevant to couples planning their multicultural or fusion wedding? Usually most of the events are held during the week and as you all know, I work full time, and I adore my job. This comes always come first. Which meant booking time off work, getting myself down to London.
The day began with breakfast and fresh orange juice, this was definitely needed as I power walked from Paddington station. Attending events alone can be daunting, not know many people and stepping outside of your comfort zone. I was soon mingling with other bloggers and other press members. While doing this, I was able to snap some photographs of the gorgeous set up the NOTHS team put together with styling from Knot and Pop. All the decor and accessories are available to buy from NOTHS which went way beyond what I thought the site offered.
One thing that I was surprised about was the jewellery NOTHS offered. I was discussing this with the hilarious team member who is in charge of the jewellery the site offers. She was showing me the range of jewellery they provide. I had always assumed it was mainly everyday jewellery or nice bracelets etc for bridesmaids. However there’s more than that and they even offer engagement rings and wedding rings which are so unique and affordable.
We then began our first workshop of the day which was making wedding stationery with Fran from little stamp store. She taught us how to use stamps to create anything from labels, wedding invitations to save the dates. It was fun to be creative and do some DIY as opposed to always being stuck behind a computer screen. Fran, a NOTHS retailer, encouraged us find our creativity with her exclusive new range of stamps! We also received lollipops from Holly’s Lollies and cookies which had also been stamped, so you can use them for creating your own wedding favours.
Here you can see my failed attempt, I went for the minimal effect, then panicked and started adding more, oops.
As the workshop was being held in Clifton Garden Nursery it was a very hot day, hey I’m not complaining, I love this weather. We needed a quick refreshment before our next workshop – brush lettering with Terri from The Lovely Drawer. She gave us a quick tutorial on how to use our brushes to create different strokes and change the thickness too. She made it look so easy! I was starting to get the hang of it but it definitely requires a lot more patience and practice. Her work is known for having very thick brush lettering which look great as you can see here.
Following this was lunchtime. We were seated and the decor on the tables was so gorgeous and elegant, again all styled by Knot and Pop. I had a delicious salmon starter and a vegetarian main course, it was so good I could have eaten a few of them! During lunch the processo was flowing and so was chats between bloggers and the NOTHS team. It’s always good to catch up with your fellow wedding blogger friends at events like these and get introduced to more bloggers too.
We were lucky enough to have award winning celebrity stylist and wedding gown designer Kate Halfpenny show us some dresses from her collection. It was inspiring how passionate and honestly she spoke about buying wedding dresses, the detail that goes into the dress and the high quality service she provides.
Our final workshop of the day was gin cocktail making with Gin Tales. This was rather fun as I’d never made cocktails before, only a strawberry daiquiri. We made a couple of cocktails, not being a fan of gin, I was surprised that I enjoyed the first strawberry cocktail. The second cocktail had lavender in it which reminded me of bath salts, so felt weird drinking it! The night before the event, I was tweeting with The Little Wedding Helper and admiring her fabulous work. Have you seen it yet? I was thinking that I’d love to meet up with Kirsten and viola the next day here we are!
To end the day we were provided with a gorgeous and delicious afternoon tea set up. It was a delight to the eye and mouth. The NOTHS team had taken SUCH good care of us throughout the whole day. It was so nice how the team were talking about working at NOTHS and how much they praise the vendors on the site. Their faces lighting up with joy talking about the brand was reassurance that the company is just as lovely behind the scenes as it is on the web.
I love this pink chair, I want one!
