Love, Honour and Be True makeup

I am definitely not a beauty blogger, and very far from it. However, as a wedding blogger, if products will be useful to brides or the wedding party, I want to be able to share them. So I want to share with you a beautiful new lipstick collection, as I was grateful enough to get an opportunity to test them out. I went for the darkest red - (Love Story) because I love red lips! What stood out to me the most was the moisturising factor of the lipstick, usually my lips can get quite dry with lipstick but my lips are getting the best of both worlds right now! Continue reading

Calling all Brides

Maddy a freelance make up artist tells us her story about working for brands such as Bobbi Brown and the packages she offer.

History

“My name is Maddy and I’ve been a makeup artist for 20years. But a mum more importantly, for nearly 5 and she’s called Bella, she loves nothing more than to help mummy plan and create her business. We are getting excited and organised for school as well at the minute. But also we love being proper girls -baking, shopping, reading and spending time having fun with our friends. My partner and I met and have lived in London for 13years. We as a family unit felt it was time to make the move back to the Cotswolds, where I grew up! So I am based around Gloucestershire and will travel as far as the midlands, down to  Somerset/Devon and back to London also. Continue reading

Freelance Bridal Makeup Artist

Victoria Taylor is a Freelance Bridal Makeup Artist. She covers the wide Essex area and also some of Suffolk and Hertfordshire  - she is always happy to travel! In addition to this, she is a mum to Eva Rose - who is almost two, aww! She tells us about herself and her work!

About Victoria

“I qualified in Makeup and Beauty Therapy at Cambridge in 1999 and I immediately went to work for Clarins, where I was given further makeup training. Eventually after a couple of years of working in the West End of London I went to work for a Beauty Salon closer to my home of Braintree in Essex, where I became the only Therapist who was able to help the many Brides that booked for their makeup to be done.

Makeup became my passion and in 2008 I began working for Bobbi Brown Cosmetics as the Counter Manager in Stansted Airport. This included more extensive colour training and getting to work with Bobbi’s UK Pro Team. I worked my way up in a very short time and took over the Sales and Education Executive  role as a maternity position, which included looking after all the airport Bobbi counters in the UK and Ireland. During this time I helped organise major events, training conferences, I helped with the opening of the Bobbi Brown counter in Terminal 2 Dublin as well as overseeing the team. Both Heathrow Terminals T3 and T5 took their first £1 million while I was looking after them.

Meeting Bobbi Brown

The highlight of my work has got to be being invited to New York to meet Bobbi Brown herself and have master classes with her and her US Pro Team. It was an honor and a privilege to actually meet one of my heroes!

The highs of my work are getting to meet some wonderful and beautiful brides and creating their makeup. I love that by the time their wedding arrives you feel like you are a part of the family. The wedding morning is so exciting, you see it all unfolding, the flowers arriving, the flower girls being dropped off and it all takes you back to that initial conversation about their makeup. When you do a trial makeup you only get to see a glimpse of whats to come, so to see the Bride in  her dress is an amazing moment. The low part is going home and not being able to go to the party! ;)

Standing out from others

What makes me different or unique is that I offer a very personal service. I’m very happy to help in any way I can and have been known to take calls from brides the night before when they’ve had a tanning disaster. I look after my brides from the moment I take that first phone call, they can ask me anything and I will go over and above to make them feel at ease, so when their day comes, they can relax and watch it all unfold with no stress. I use high quality brands, including Bobbi Brown, Mac, Estee lauder and Laura Mercier. They are designed to look flawless and feel comfortable, staying in place all day so that all the bride needs to think about is reapplying lipstick.”
