Betsy and Kevin had two ceremonies for their wedding. The day started off with the Hindu ceremony that took place at the Westin Chicago Northwest where Betsy wore a beautiful red and white lengha and Kevin also wore a red and white sherwani. Their outfits co-ordinated beautifully together as the red and white colours complimented each other. Before the Hindu ceremony, Kevins’ entrance (Known as the baraat – which is the groom’s entrance with his friends and family) was in a form of of a flash mob with music mixed byDJ Aladdin.
After the ceremony, guests took their places at the First Presbyterian Church of Itasca for their Christian ceremony. The coral colour of Betsy’s bridesmaids dresses is a personal favourite, it is a SWB colour after all 😉 Betsy donned a beautiful white dress that consisted of ruffles on the bottom of the dress, which is similar to Jessica’s Wedding Dress. It’s a great opportunity to have a very detailed wedding outfit for the Hindu ceremony and then switch things to a simpler, and still gorgeous, look for the Christian ceremony.
It is also interesting to see how this couple combined two ceremonies into one day followed by a great big reception t0 finish and dance the night away. Some opt for having their ceremonies on two different days followed by a reception, like my cousins Sikh Christian wedding – whereas Betsy and Kevin opted to having their wedding in one day. There is no right or wrong way to do this, it’s your wedding of course! Having a discussion about how you and your partner envision your wedding and two ceremonies is required when planning your multicultural wedding. I think this couple have done a wonderful job from each ceremony and the elegant reception.
Delack Media Group were there from the early morning until the late night to capture their whole wedding. One of my favourite parts is listening/finding out about how they met and the connection between the couple. This is why I love it when videographers capture speeches in the wedding videos as it adds that personal touch and the audience can connect with the couple without actually meeting or knowing them!
