Last year I wrote a post on 22 Creative save the dates for your inspiration and it’s been a very big hit! The post gives you examples of a range of creative save the dates from typography based, to magnets and even balloons. One of the popular ideas was a photography based one. This isn’t surprising because it’s a great way to personalise your save the date giving your guests a reminder of your wedding and your love for each other. (It may sound cheesy but I love cheese – no literally I really do!).
When you are having your engagement shoot, you may want to think about how to incorporate the shots into your save the dates. Do you want to hold up the date? Lean against giant letters? Even if you’re not using your engagement photographs, you can use any other photographs for your save the date. Here are some examples and templates below!
It’s all about the photographs on this save the date, one main with three photographs on the right. Pick your favourite one as the main photo, edit the text and you’re done! // Wedding Paper Divas
Similar to the first one but this is an exquisitely inclined save the date, using three photographs with the opposite layout. Subtle changes can make a huge difference so this may be more appealing for you. // Wedding Paper Divas

This save the date combines a photograph with a chalkboard to make these halves the perfect choice. By choosing one photograph and having half of the card left for the text, allows you to add more text and information on the save the date should you require it. // Zazzle
This couple whose wedding was featured on the blog made their own save the dates by creating a DIY Photobooth. A money saving idea – read more about this fusion wedding here.
How about this type of shot where you and your partner are the small subjects centered on the card? Above are the details of your wedding in a heart shape. This is so simple and emphasises the gorgeous backdrop photograph. // Love Vs Design
A very stylish save the date based on blooming flowers and antlers with your photograph as the background. This shot using a bicycle as a prop for the centre of this card. // Love Vs Design
Hey you stylish ice cream lovers, what about this idea? Love that the colours of their ice cream match the colour palette for this save the date. A cool modern idea to customise how you desire. // Love Vs Design
For all you sparkle lovers out there. Add a touch of sparkle to your save the date to give it that something extra! // Wedding Paper Divas
If you love handwritten typography with a combination of your photograph then this save the date idea is for you. Simple and elegant, this pose allows you to show off your ring! // Etsy
Having a calendar on your save the date is also a popular choice and you can see why. It fits in effortlessly with the design of this card and the photograph is a personal touch. A cute shot for dog lovers too. // Etsy
I’m favouring the chalkboard, floral, typography combined with photography for a cute save the date idea. I mean how pretty is this design? // Etsy
