St Clere Background
St Clere has a colourful and enthralling history involving Kings and Queens, a period when it was a boarding school and it has also been owned by two Governors of the Bank of England. It has been the film set for the famous Miss Marple, The Mirror Crack’d and for the glorious summer of 1980, Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson, among other Hollywood stars graced their presence at the estate.
As a result of it’s diverse past, the house and gardens have seen many additions and changes over the years and now bestows an eclectic collection of features and characteristics, including turrets, which are unusual for it’s era, the arched hawthorn walkway, the lime avenue, formal terraces and spectacular views over the temple on the lake – all of which make stunning backdrops for wedding photographs.
Now the home of Eliza Ecclestone and her family, the estate has been developed as a venue for a range of events including business meetings and weddings, however the one thing that remains a number one priority at St Clere, is that it continues to be an intimate environment where guests can feel the peace and privacy they require to truly relax and enjoy their time.
